Cipralexing Day 3 @5mg

This morning I woke up at 4:30 and could never really go back to sleep until I finally had to get up around 5:30 for work.

Clearly, I am still stressing out about things as that is the general reason why I end up awake or can’t sleep through the nights.

However, either because of the lack of sleep or being hormonal and/or the cipralex, I was in a daze most of the day. It was clearly apparent when I hadn’t heated up the coffee enough and forgot to put some dressing on the salad I took for lunch, plus the general state of being hazy and tired. Luckily, I only had to teach one class today and was able to spend the rest of the day inside my office.

We came home early (it is an early day after all) and I took a 3-hour nap, which has definitely helped improve my mood. Yet, now I feel that haziness returning. I think it’s the cipralex as the only other times I have felt this way is when on other meds like allergy medication or from pure exhaustion. Although I could still be quite tired, I’m gonna go with door number one as the possible reason for my dazed and confused state.

On the other hand, I do sort of feel as if my brain is slowing down a bit. At least I don’t totally jump from activity or thought to another as much – today at least -, so maybe that is good. Still, I should be writing my chapter at this moment, but instead I am posting here. Hahaha 😀

Well, that’s today’s update. I will probably have to wait until the weekend to get to the Turkey post updates as I am trying to get a bit of work done on the chapter before I chat with my supervisor on Friday…eeek!

Well, another day has passed and I feel okay still. My stomach is still not quite right from the food poisoning and a friend of mine has suggested that I may also have a common bacteria in my stomach. So, I am going to make an appointment to see a doctor about it.

As for the meds, I think all is good for now. I have two more days at 5mg and then will go up to 10. I found the source of my sleepiness, I think, so it seems they are not the cause of that. Still, they might affect my overall sleep….

So, that’s today’s update.

So…I decided that with my dark thoughts before my trip that it might not be a bad idea to give the antidepressants another try given that my stressors are generally external and stem from people, from whom I cannot totally isolate myself. Whilst in Turkey, I got my hands on more Cipralex as it is much cheaper there and I did not need a prescription. Also, my therapist is off for a couple of months and so it is sort of a good time to test out non-therapy methods. Of course, when I see her again I will discuss this path and how it is going in terms of whether or not I would like to continue.

Anyway, I am starting slowly and want to keep track of how I go through the process. Thus, last night I took 5mg (half a 10mg pill) along with my vitamins. Today, around 1pm, I suddenly felt quite drowsy and as if I was in a bit of a blur. It was almost as if I were a little drunk, but no alcohol in my system. As I was driving home from being out, I wondered if I should be driving given that I was sweeeeppy and nothing was really running through my head. It seems rather fast for it to kick in, but I am very sensitive to all drugs (except tequila!). My head is a little bit achy, but not too much.

Also, I am still recovering from the food poisoning I contracted from something on the flight home, which could also affect my response given that I have eaten very little the past few days and am probably in need of a lot more fluids. So, will write again tomorrow.

By the way, I have back-posted my first Turkey trip day….

Today was the last of our tour-type activities.

We had the same start as yesterday including the bus ride over the sea and back again to first visit the Spice Bazaar, which was quite interesting and colorful to see. There wasn’t just spices there,but souvenir items, scarves, jewelry, etc.
