10th Anniversary by James Patterson

_10th Anniversary_ by James Patterson

Vacation traveling means that I read easy-no-brainer books so that I can fall asleep or at least make the time pass quickly while waiting at an airport or on the plane (if I am not asleep by the time the plane takes off!).

So, as I embarked on my summer adventures, I also started the most recent of the Women’s Murder Club series books by Patterson. I had nearly forgotten what was going on with the characters in the 9th Judgement since it has been nearly a year between readings. However, I quickly got caught up again and found that I was more engaged in all of their lives than I had been before. There seems to be a sense of finality in this novel with everyone settling down with someone and having that happily-ever-after family is love fairy tale mushy ending. It is possible that there could be more coming, but I sense that perhaps this storyline is or will-be put to rest shortly.

As always, I do not want to ruin the ending for people by telling what happens in the story. So, I will simply say that if this is indeed the last one of the series, it ends appropriately and entertains as it should for a quick and easy read.

More to come…,

book cover of Cross Fire (Alex Cross, book 17) by James Patterson

_Cross Fire_ Β by James Patterson

Patterson continues to develop the character, Alex Cross, and his ongoing antagonist, Kyle Craig, in this novel. It has hints of being the last in the Cross series, but that’s just my own opinion.

The story starts to get a bit predictable and too convenient from the clues of the crimes, intertwining of different cases, antagonizing between Cross and Craig, and Cross’s own family/love story. While I did keep turning the pages on my iPad at a rather quick pace, it was more out of the ease of the read rather than anticipation of what was coming up next.

Maybe it’s time for me to start branching out my contemporary authors and genres because I’m starting to get bored with these kind of crime thrillers (at least for the time being). In any case, at least I can say that I’m caught up the Cross saga by Patterson for now. πŸ™‚

_The Postcard Killers_ by James Patterson and Liza Marklund is one of the better crime stories by Patterson lately. Marklund’s influence must have been strong in writing this story because I was on edge throughout most of the book. While the ending may have been a little too neat in terms of the love relationship between the two main protagonists, it still was interesting and somewhat unpredictable.

The writing was descriptive and easy to read, so I definitely recommend this as a travel book to make the time pass by quickly. I’m not sure it’s a good before-bed book though unless your immune to influences on dreams.

_9th Judgement_

James Patterson continues to entertain me with this series. It was a better read than what I remember thinking about the _8th Confession_, which is good. I read the entire book on my flights from AD to JFK and was reminded of how much I enjoy having a real book in hand when I’m reading.

The story continues with the four women overlapping in their careers and life to help solve a crime or put away bad dudes. πŸ˜€ This time, everything seemed a little more plausible and the intertwining of the stories seemed to be done better. The ending was a bit abrupt as the event just didn’t seem to mesh with the way the rest of the story had been heading…, so I can only guess that it was more of a set up for the next novel than anything else. Who knows, though.

In any case, I’ve got more books to read over the summer, but the rest are on my iPhone as I contemplate purchasing an iPad for a possibly better digital reading experience.

Until next time,
