Okay, seriously, I thought it was bad when we had to double-mark 25 essays at the end of term. When I decided to do this new semester course, I figured that it would be an okay trade-off to have to teach instead of all the marking….

Then, mid-term exams were formulated – okay, I can handle that since I hadn’t seen them yet.

Then, a challenge exam for students who want to try to test out of the new semester system was created – nice for the students, though a bit ad hoc in the decision-making; still manageable.

THEN, mid-terms were given and we discovered that we had to mark and bubble in write-in answers for about 20 questions, plus have them double-marked! This means we had to look at about 50 tests each for three exams, plus a separate grading for the free-writing. One of the benefits of our level is that the students only have to produce 10 sentences…marking is fast… or WAS!

So, we started yesterday for three hours. We re-convened this morning at 9. I had a 30-minute lunch break. Then, went again until 4.30. Got home and had to input grades for another 20 minutes. Waiting for another set of grades.

Have to be at work again at 7.30am for the 8am class, but may have to input grades before then….

Can’t wait for holidays to begin!
